“Sky” report

Around the turn of the year it was said that FC Bayern favored an extension with goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (27) in order to keep him at VfB Stuttgart for another season. “Sky” now followed up with a report and wrote that the new Bayern sports director Max Eberl was also open to this project. There should be concrete discussions between the players and the Munich team in April.
Nübel himself, who knows how to impress on loan at VfB, which is on course for the Champions League, could imagine extending his contract with Bayern. Prerequisite: The keeper has the prospect of becoming number one and thus the successor to Manuel Neuer in 2025 – with a delay. The 37-year-old extended his contract with FCB again last November until the end of the 2024/25 season. The captain will then be 39 years old and an end to his career then seems possible.
The Stuttgart team, on the other hand, would reportedly like to continue for another year with Nübel’s support; that is their top priority. However, a purchase is currently considered “almost impossible” – so the only option is another loan deal. Nübel has been in the VfB goal 27 times so far this season, with the Paderborn native conceding 31 goals and keeping a clean sheet eleven times. In the Bundesliga, only Bayer Leverkusen’s Lukas Hradecky (34) is better in these statistics.

Nübel is said to have accepted a loss in salary for his loan move to Stuttgart. This point could also play a role again if the cooperation is extended. Stuttgart’s CEO Alexander Wehrle explained this a few months ago: “If there is a construct from which all three parties can benefit, we are ready to talk at any time. I would go to Munich at any time of the day or night to do that.”
