Top talent FC Barcelona has a youth contract and can be picked up for 10 million

FC Barcelona is in discussions with Pau Cubarsí about a contract extension. The seventeen-year-old center back still has a youth contract and can therefore be picked up for only ten million euros, but Barça wants to avoid that scenario. Fabrizio Romano reports that the club has made a new proposal to Cubarsí.
The top talent is having an impressive season and may soon be rewarded with an improved contract. His current youth contract runs until mid-2026.
As far as Barcelona is concerned, Cubarsí will sign the new deal before the end of the season. This concerns a contract extension with a significant salary increase and a new buyout clause, worth one billion euros. Barcelona sees Cubarsí as an important pawn for the future.
It is unknown how the defender himself feels about a new contract. Cubarsí came over from Girona’s youth academy in 2018 and afterwards he quickly rose through the youth teams of La Masia.
In January of this year, Cubarsí made his debut in Barcelona’s main squad. He played one half in the cup match against Unionistas (1-3 win). Since then, things have gone quickly for the man marker.
The counter now stands at thirteen appearances in Barcelona’s main squad and in recent weeks Cubarsí has consistently been given a starting spot by coach Xavi. It even earned the teenager his international debut in March.
Jose Luis De La Fuente, coach of the Spain national team, has become convinced of Cubarsí’s qualities and brought him on as a substitute in the practice matches against Colombia (0-1 loss) and Brazil (3-3).
