FC Barcelona hopes to sign Erling Haaland in the summer of 2025, Mundo Deportivo reports. In the summer of 2022, the Norwegian striker was already close to a move to the Catalan club, but financial restrictions and the arrival of Robert Lewandowski thwarted the deal.
Now, however, the club management sees opportunities again, partly due to the financial returns after the renovation of the stadium and the ongoing investigation into Manchester City for Financial Fair Play violations.
Haaland had already shown interest in a move to Barça in 2021, but then decided to stay at Borussia Dortmund for another year. FC Barcelona coach Xavi had personal contact with Haaland at the time to explain the sporting plan, which made the Norwegian enthusiastic.
Although the transfer did not go through at the time, the door is still open for Haaland at Barça. The club is aiming for his arrival in the summer of 2025, as discussed during a recent meeting between his agent and Barça sporting director Deco.
