Basketball group draw at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: the reactions of Anthony, Taylor and Tony Estanguet

“It was exciting. I hope I don’t have to blame myself for the way the groups were drawn. I think all the groups will be exciting. Overall, the level of competition will be incredible. The tournament will be held in France and the hosts have an excellent team. They will try to do their best for the country and for the fans. Germany, fresh from winning the World Cup, is also very strong. It will be tough, but a lot of fun. I expect to see 27,000 people in the stadium!”.
“France is certainly respected in the United States as well,” he added. “I think that comes from the players who have come and been successful in the NBA. I hope that Victor Wembanyama can be the face and guide of the team.”
Considerations to which are added those of Penny Taylor.
“There are no easy paths to the gold medal. Australia will have to play against the best teams in the world to achieve this. Every group is difficult, but I think the one with the United States, Belgium and Japan is really challenging. But like I said, if you want to win you have to play them all sooner or later. Maybe it’s a good thing to face them early, when you’re still fresh.”
“I was really impressed with Puerto Rico, with what their players were able to do and how the team was able to stay together,” she continued. “They have some great athletes playing in Europe right now. I watched them and I was impressed with their skill level and talent, so it will be exciting to see how they fare on a bigger stage.”
He was also present at the draw Tony Estanguetpresident of Paris 2024.
“I am very impressed with what Wembanyama is showing in the NBA right now. It is impressive to see the level he has reached after just one season in the United States. I really wish him the best successes in his career and certainly having him in the national team is a fantastic asset. We are very proud of what he has already done and look forward to having him with the French team at the Games.”
