Évreux Falls to Aix/Maurienne Despite Early Lead

The two teams started the meeting with very little skill but under the leadership of Burton, Évreux was in the lead. Aix/Maurienne lacked success behind the arc and let the Normans win the first quarter (19-16).

By scoring his third three-point basket of the game, Raharimanantoa created the biggest gap of the match (29-20 in the 13th) but Dauby answered him tit for tat and the match was balanced. Very feverish in the lead, Manu Schmitt’s players were unable to find fluidity in their attacking game and the ALM took advantage of this to regain a few steps ahead. Halftime was whistled with a score of 40-37 in favor of the Ebroïcians.

Nine points ahead for ALM in the 33rd minute

Little seen until now, Willet was beginning to light a few fuses. At 50-44 in their favor in the 25th minute, one could think that the Savoyards had taken the upper hand but thanks to their three-point skill, the visitors remained in the match. By scoring ten points in a row, they even completely restarted the game and at the dawn of the last quarter, the Ebroicians led 59-56.

AMSB’s offensive problems did not improve afterward. Their long distance attempts were unsuccessful and at 69-60 (33rd) we didn’t see how they were going to be able to reverse the trend. But at the end of the timeout taken by Manu Schmitt the light came back on. Very nervous since the start of the match Asceric took his third technical foul and was sent off. Pushed by their audience, the Savoyards took the lead again in the 37th minute of play (74-73). The match had just turned and Joseph’s teammates (18 points) could not find the resources to reverse the trend and avoid a defeat which could weigh heavily at the end of the season.
