During the 2006 World Cup summer fairytale in Germany, pictures of people celebrating on fan miles went around the world. This should now be possible again at this year’s home European Championships, thanks to “special regulations”.

Rest at night and public viewing late in the evening are two things that cannot be reconciled particularly well. Unless there are certain regulations. According to a media report, the federal government is now planning to relax the regulations on nighttime rest for the European Football Championship this summer.

Fan festivals and public viewing should be possible into the night during the home tournament from June 14th to July 14th, as “Spiegel” reported on Tuesday evening, citing a draft regulation from the Federal Environment Ministry. However, the decision about approvals should still rest with the municipalities.
