The volunteers of Espérance, in Sixt-sur-Aff (Ille-et-Vilaine) are already working on the sixtieth anniversary of the association, which will take place on Saturday June 8, 2024. They met on Tuesday March 5, to celebrate a club which, in sixty years, has developed numerous activities: basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, tennis, French boxing, gymnastics, hiking, badminton. Although created in 1964, it was only a football section.
300 members, a growing club
Three players are behind the creation of the club: Louis Rollais, René Opinel and Yves Marchand, 86 years old today, who is none other than the father of Jacques-Yves Marchand, the current president. Michel Jarnier was its first president.
Over the years, the association has continued to grow. Today, it has some 300 licensees, with volunteers who run the different sections. The facilitators from the Sports and Youth Office between Aff and Vilaine, in Val d’Anast, supervise the training sessions for the different sections.
L’Espérance now brings together sections, which work to enliven the commune and take part in activities. The football section is very dynamic and pools youth training with La Gacilly (Morbihan), which takes place on weekends, Saturdays for young people and Sundays for seniors.
Volunteers supervise the different sections for the matches. Jean-Pierre Hamon chairs this football section. Gymnastics, chaired by Chrystèle Douet, trains on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. Badminton trains on Thursdays at 8 p.m.; the section is chaired by Nicolas Chapelle.
A photo exhibition
To celebrate 60 years of dynamic sections, Esperance opens its doors on Saturday June 8, from 2 p.m. Football matches will be organized at the sports complex. Children will not be left behind and will be able to have fun on an inflatable structure.
At 7 p.m., the aperitif hour will ring, and 8:30 p.m., the meal. Both will be held in the Espace-de-l’Aff room, where an exhibition of photographs, retracing sixty years of associative activity, will be visible.
The association’s office continues to meet regularly to prepare for this event which promises to be a landmark in the club’s annals.
