The signing of defender Eric Dier on loan in the winter did not trigger any storms of celebration among FC Bayern Munich fans. But the 30-year-old Englishman proved to be a reliable supporter in the Munich squad right from the start.
The central defender has played a total of six times in the German Bundesliga, four of which were from the start.
As the portal “The Athletic” reports, the number of starting eleven appearances has now led to a clause in the loan contract being activated, which automatically binds the 30-year-old to FC Bayern for one year longer.
Since Dier’s contract with loan club Tottenham Hotspur expires in the summer, no additional transfer fee will be due. According to the report, the German record champions will register the defensive veteran as a free agent and tie him to the club until 2025.
Eric Dier has met the contractual obligations required to turn his Bayern Munich loan move into a permanent transfer this summer.
