England National Team Players Wear Nameless Jerseys to Support Dementia Awareness

England national team players will play in nameless jerseys during the second half of the friendly match against the Red Devils on Tuesday evening at Wembley. This action is part of a campaign to draw attention to dementia.

The “disappearance” of the names at halftime is meant to illustrate how people with dementia can lose precious memories. This initiative is part of a previous partnership between the English Football Association (FA) and the Alzheimer’s Society. A similar action had already been carried out by the English during a match against Switzerland in March 2022.

An avalanche of injuries and persistent problems, England also tremble before facing Belgium

The jerseys will be auctioned after the match. Proceeds will support Alzheimer’s Society research.

“We hope this powerful gesture with the players’ jerseys will inspire fans across the country to talk and think about the signs and symptoms of dementia,” said Kate Lee, president of the Alzheimer’s Society. “By using football, we hope to encourage fans to not only donate, but also support their loved ones as much as they support their favorite football team. This means taking the crucial first steps towards a diagnosis when they suspect that someone close to them might be affected by the disease. Diagnosis can be difficult, but it’s better to know.”
