eMTB Merida: the new eONE-SIXTY and eONE-FORTY from the eTRILOGY family

eMTB Merida: autonomy, low weight, complete power support. Compared to the past, today’s cyclists want much more from their pedal-assisted mountain bikes and, as often happens, the best compromise is not to compromise. To get a bike that can satisfy all types of cyclists, Merida has created a new range of high-performance eMTBs called eTRILOGY.

eMTB Merida: the new eONE-SIXTY and eONE-FORTY from the eTRILOGY family

Three full suspension mountain bikes that share key ingredients, but each with its own fundamentally different identity that helps them provide the right performance for the different needs of every ebiker: from the superlative eONE-SIXTY CF in carbon to its sister eONE-SIXTY LITE in aluminium, to which is added the eONE-FORTY LITE in aluminium.

eMTB Merida eONE-SIXTY

The eONE-SIXTY CF – available in the eONE-SIXTY 10K, 7000 and 6000 models – has an entirely carbon frame, and is therefore designed for maximum lightness and reactivity, for those looking for high performance. Some numbers characterize it at first glance: front travel of 170 mm and rear of 174 mm (27.5″ wheel) and a fully integrated 600 Wh battery that can be extended to 960 Wh, thanks to a range extender sold aftermarket. These indications are enough to describe a bike that offers high performance in terms of handling and stability, the latter achieved by lowering the center of gravity of the entire mountain bike thanks to the extremely low position of the battery in the down tube.

The eONE-SIXTY LITE – available in the eONE-SIXTY 875 and 675 models – offers high autonomy combined with ideal performance for riding on single tracks. With the same range as its bigger sister eONE-SIXTY CF, the eONE-SIXTY LITE is entirely made of aluminum and is equipped with a removable 750 Wh battery which, with range extender, brings the autonomy beyond 1100 Wh. If on the one hand you get unparalleled autonomy, on the other the bike offers pleasant maneuverability for those looking for performance on the trail, all thanks to the latest geometry and suspension updates.

eMTB Merida eONE-FORTY

The eONE-FORTY LITE – available in the eONE-FORTY 675, 475 and 475 EQ models – was designed for riders who don’t need extra suspension travel, but who are looking for the versatility of an eMTB SUV to combine the daily use during the week with exceptional performance on the trails at the weekend.

It features a removable 750Wh battery, with the option to extend this to over 1100Wh of battery life, a full power drive unit and lighter, more versatile mounting specifications.

The evolution of the species

Although the new bikes of the eTRILOGY family have different characteristics so as to be able to address groups of users with different needs, much of the inspiration came from the ONE-SIXTY and ONE-FORTY, their non-electric counterparts, which played a fundamental role in the development process. Many of their award-winning and tested features and technologies have, in fact, been shared with the new eONE-SIXTY / eONE-FORTY range. The new bikes use an eMTB-specific version of Merida’s FAST kinematic suspension, first introduced on the ONE-SIXTY and ONE-FORTY: a technical solution that offers size-specific leverage ratios, allowing lighter riders to use the full range of travel while providing taller and heavier riders with the support they need.

The eONE-SIXTY range also features Merida P-FLEX flexstay technology, which reduces weight and maintenance needs, while the eONE-FORTY retains the rear axle to facilitate the fitting of full racks and fenders. All bikes can be used with a 27.5″ rear wheel or as a full 29er without affecting handling, thanks to Merida’s FLIP CHIP which must be set according to the wheel format you want to use.

To each his own measure

The Merida AGILOMETER sizing system allows you to choose from multiple frame size options. Low standover heights, combined with adjustable long-travel dropper posts, let you choose a short reach for agility or a longer reach for stability. A geometry heavily influenced by the award-winning ONE-SIXTY was used, but refined for the unique needs of an e-MTB. This means a longer reach, a slacker head angle and a steeper seat angle than the previous generation bike, but tuned so that the handling is even greater.

At full throttle

In terms of drive systems, the eTRILOGY range relies on Shimano’s latest EP801 motors, paired with a variety of battery types and sizes to suit different user groups. Finally, a long list of features and technologies has been introduced such as the integration of WIRE PORT cables, the TRAIL MOUNT or the postTEAM TR dropper (specific for each model), to offer maximum performance and ease of use everywhere the new eONE-SIXTY / eONE-FORTY from the eTRILOGY range are brought.
