Empowering Women Through Self-Defense: A Workshop by the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club

SPORTS. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu club organized, Saturday March 23, a self-defense discovery workshop at the Jean-Claude Noël dojo, for women and in association with the judo club. Enough to introduce them to the practice of martial arts.

Stéphane Andriot, president of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu club, took advantage of the month of March, and International Women’s Rights Day, to offer them an introductory self-defense workshop at the Jean-Claude Noël dojo. Thus, around twenty participants responded favorably to the invitation, and even men. “The goal is to show women that there is always a way out. The idea is to show them how to stay safe in the event of a complex situation,” explains Stéphane Andriot.

Thus, volunteers from his club and the judo club accompanied the day’s practitioners, of all levels, to show them some self-defense techniques. But also traditional jiu-jitsu techniques, presented by members of the judo club, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu techniques.

“The goal is also to introduce them to martial arts, and to show them everything that is possible to do in Langres.” Stéphane Andriot therefore hopes that his workshop will attract new martialists to the various Langres clubs and plans to integrate self-defense into his lessons. He also intends to repeat the event next year, trying, why not, to associate with other clubs.
