Eiduka Finishes 12th in Sprint at Skiing World Cup Semi-Final

In the semi-final, Eiduka finished sixth, 0.6 seconds behind the Swedish athlete Maja Dahlkvist, and did not enter the final, which was reached by the two fastest skiers of both semi-finals and two more top scorers. Eidukas finished the competition in 12th position.

In the final, the Norwegian Kristina Stavos Skistad celebrated the victory, who beat the German Koletta Ridzek by 0.76 seconds, while Dahlkvist lost to the winner by 0.80 seconds and was third.

Before that, in the quarterfinals, the Latvian lost only to the Swede, Juhanna Hegsträma, who beat Eiduka by two tenths of a second. A closer fight at the finish was prevented by the fall of Finnish Hilla Niemela, who achieved the sixth result in the qualification.

In the qualification, Eiduka achieved the 15th fastest time, completing the course in three minutes and 4.94 seconds. She lost 8.10 seconds to Sweden’s Jonna Sundling, the owner of the best result.

Among Latvian skiers, Kitija Auziņa finished in 59th place, 23.41 seconds behind the leader, while Samanta Krampe lost 26.97 seconds and finished in 61st position.

The 30 fastest skiers in the competition of 63 athletes made it to the elimination matches.

In the men’s qualification, Lauris Kaparkalējs finished in two minutes and 46.01 seconds, only 1.2 seconds short of overcoming the qualification barrier. The 75.28 International Ski Federation (FIS) rating points achieved in the selection round are one of the highest career results for Kaparkalej.

Norwegian Johannes Klebo was the fastest in the qualification, who was 9.8 seconds faster than Kaparkalei. Raimo Vigants lost exactly 15 seconds in the qualification to Klebo, which gave him 69th place in the competition of 81 athletes.

In the final, the victory was won by Klebaud, who was 0.31 seconds ahead of the French athlete Luc Chanava, while the Swiss Valerio Grond lost 0.96 seconds and finished in the third position.

At the beginning of the year, Eiduka won the fifth place in the last stage of the “Tour de Ski” series in Italy, repeating the highest result in the history of Latvian skiing, but the Latvian was eighth overall, achieving a new record.

In March, stages will also be held in Oslo and Drammen (Norway), as well as in Falun (Sweden).
