By Guillaume K. | Sports journalist

NBA players are well known in the nightlife scene, as they have the means to go out regularly and spend large sums of money in establishments. But everything doesn’t always go well for them, proof of this with this crazy story where egos spoke.

It’s no secret that NBA players love to party, especially when they’re on the road. They don’t really have any outside requirements, so they know how to have fun in certain well-known establishments. James Harden is a good example of this, he who has long been singled out for his love of the world of the night.

Finally, when sporting performances are good and the outings are rather discreet, few people find fault with it… Unfortunately for them, some players sometimes experience evenings that impact their career. This was notably the case of Thabo Sefolosha in 2015, when he was arrested by the police leaving a club in New York and his leg was broken by a baton blow.

Tony Parker also almost left an eye in the world of the night, the fault is a big fight between Drake and Chris Brown over Rihanna. Gilbert Arenas, who was not the last to come out during his time with the Wizards, told a funny anecdote in his podcast. He once saw a teammate get hit for an ego thing.

I once saw an NBA player take a pair of rights from Ginuwine in a nightclub. We were in an establishment called H20, on the riverbank. Everyone was there, everyone knows the story. Ginuwine bought everyone bottles as a sign of respect. So a waiter brings a bottle to this player, and Ginuwine gestures to him to say that it came from him.

The guy said, “I’m not gay, I’m not going to accept a bottle from another man.” » So he called the waiter back to send the bottle back to Ginuwine’s table. And then, I saw the singer walking through the nightclub, he leaned towards my teammate to say something to him, and all of a sudden BAM! He’s trained for years for this moment.

Ginuwine, legendary ’90s R&B singer, obviously liked to show his respect by buying bottles for NBA players when he went out. The problem was that a teammate of Gilbert Arenas saw this as a flirting technique, something he did not appreciate. He therefore had his ideas put back in place by the artist, who is not refused gifts.

There can be some pretty violent ego wars when NBA players go out clubbing. A teammate of Gilbert Arenas learned this the hard way, since he was hit after refusing a bottle from a singer.
