Dwight Howard isn’t done with basketball. While he is undoubtedly still hoping for a return to the NBA, the former superstar pivot will continue his career in Puerto Rico.
After a stint with the Taiwan Beer Leopards, Dwight has just signed with the Guaynabo Mets for the 2024 season. Fun fact: Howard will be trained by former NBA player JJ Barea, now the team’s coach. D12 also joins the formation in which DeMarcus Cousins played recently. Former NBA player Renaldo Balkman is still a member of the team.

Aged 38, Dwight Howard will try to have a good time while discovering a new championship and a new country. A bit like what he did on the Taiwan side, where he was the big superstar of the league and where he was able to have some fun like participating in a… 3-point contest for example. For your information, Dwight also participated in the Dubai International Basketball Championship last January with a Filipino club.
This signing in Puerto Rico puts an end to rumors of a potential arrival in Europe or the NBL for Dwight Howard. Not sure, however, that it will allow him to find a place in the NBA, he who still dreams of one last stint in the Big League before hanging up his sneakers…
