At 3am this morning, the Olympic group draw was held in Switzerland, and I watched it live on FIBA’s official YouTube channel. Looking at the lineup of participating countries, I am once again humbled by the fact that the Olympics are the pinnacle of competition, with 12 of the world’s strongest teams participating.
As a result of the draw, the men’s group is placed in Group B, which includes last summer’s World Cup champions Germany, hosts France, and the team that advanced from the World Final Qualifier (OQT) in Latvia.
Following the Tokyo Olympics, the women’s team was placed in a really tough group for both men and women, with the world champions USA competing against them, as well as Group C, which is the same group as Europe’s powerhouses Belgium and Germany.
At the Paris Olympics, the men’s team has set a lofty goal of advancing to the final tournament (top 8 or better), and the women’s team has set a high goal of winning the gold medal, which will surpass Tokyo. In order to achieve this goal, I believe that Japan will form a “super team” that will come together as one and take on the world with a spirit of challenge. Please support us as “Japan as One.”

I watched the draw live in Switzerland. In fact, six teams, both men and women, will be participating in the Paris Olympics. I feel proud that Japan is among them, and I feel that the battle is finally about to begin.
After finishing the draw and looking at the competing countries, I felt that the Olympics were going to be tough. The men are in the same group as Germany, the World Cup champions, and France, whose home country hosts the tournament and also includes player Wenbanyama, who is said to be a substandard rookie in the NBA.
The women’s team, on the other hand, was placed in the same group as the United States, which ranks first in the FIBA rankings and has won nine gold medals at the Olympics, Belgium, which is currently nicknamed No. 1 in Europe, and young Germany.
