Dirk Kuyt has now been a trainer at Beerschot for two months. He is heading for promotion to the Jupiler Pro League with the club.
It is not an easy competition, the Challenger Pro League. Beerschot is currently the leader and is four points ahead of third in the standings. The first two places entitle you to direct promotion.
Trainer Dirk Kuyt deliberately only signed with Beerschot for half a season. “We’ll see if we fit together, but we get along well,” the Dutchman tells Rijnmond.
For Kuyt, Beerschot is a team that has been through a lot. “It is a beautiful and difficult challenge, but I like it. I’ve never run away from that. I feel at home here.”
Kuyt wants to re-sign with Beerschot
He is therefore considering an extension of his agreement with Beerschot. “The desire is certainly there to continue working together,” he adds.
Kuyt says he does not feel the pressure to win the title, but that does not mean it should remain a dream. The coach is especially happy that he has found the fun in football again, because that was gone.
“When you are here, you can feel how this popular club wants to return to the highest level. In terms of supporters and drive, Beerschot is a bit like Feyenoord,” the Dutchman concludes.
