Denver Broncos part ways with quarterback Wilson

The Denver Broncos and quarterback Russell Wilson are going their separate ways. The NFL team from Colorado announced on Monday that the playmaker had been informed that he would be released next week. Coach Sean Payton and general manager George Paton thanked Wilson in a brief statement. Wilson had only played two NFL seasons for the Broncos, collecting 17 losses and just 11 wins during that time.

After his departure from the Seattle Seahawks, with whom he once won the Super Bowl against the Broncos, Wilson signed a five-year contract worth $242 million in Denver. Despite the separation, $39 million of that is guaranteed for the coming season. The Pittsburgh Steelers are considered to be potentially interested in signing the 35-year-old.
