Deion Sanders Talks ‘Pulling an Eli’ for Son Shedeur Sanders in 2025 NFL Draft

FRISCO – We have no idea where Shedeur Sanders, son of Deion, will be ranked once he is eligible to be playing in the National Football League in the 2025 NFL Draft. But we know what his father thinks about where he won’t play … as “Coach Prime” – the Dallas Cowboys legend – is already talking about pulling an Eli Manning.

Or, to a generation before that, “pulling an Elway.”

When Eli Manning was coming out of Ole Miss, he refused to play for the Chargers, forcing his way to being drafted by the Giants. Before that, John Elway told the Colts he wouldn’t play there, so his rights were trade to the Broncos.

It sounds like Deion, the coach at Colorado, where his son, quarterback Shedeur, is a standout,

“I know where I want, kinda want them to go … so there’s certain cities that ain’t gonna happen. It’s gonna be an ‘Eli,’ we ain’t doing that,” Deion said on the “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game” podcast.

“Coach Prime” had previously said that he didn’t want his son playing in a cold-weather city. (So Dallas should be cool with everybody, just in case). It sounds like he doesn’t want Colorado star Travis Hunter to play for certain teams, too.

The former NFL star turned college football head coach thinks both his son and all-purpose standout Travis Hunter will go really high.

“Top four,” Deion said. “One of them is going to be No. 1.”

Again, we don’t know about any of that. We’re not sure in Shedeur’s case he will have that sort of stroke. Nor, frankly, do we think it’s wise to automatically rule out any franchise or any city. But Deion Sanders often dictated his own fate as a pro athlete in his own way. So he does have a track record here.
