In Paris-Nice Remco Evenepoel did well for the general classification, but in the Tirreno-Adriatico the Belgians fared less well. Jasper Philipsen even crashed in the final kilometer.
The sprinter from Alpecin-Deceuninck seemed to push a bit too far for the day’s win, especially since the finish came just a few hundred meters after a right-angle bend. But that is precisely a frustration that many cycling fanatics have had enough of for a while.
Once again the finish was immediately after a dangerous obstacle, where, unsurprisingly, things went wrong again. This time, Philipsen was among the unfortunate ones (see video below), although he did crawl back on the bike.
But the course once again caused frustration, including for Dutch journalist Thijs Zonneveld. He hits hard on X. “Completely moronic last kilometer again in Tirreno. Fences with legs sticking out far, bends, narrowings: chronicle of an announced fall,” it sounds rightly critical.
???????? It is Phil Bauhaus who crosses the line first in Gualdo Tadino. The German takes full advantage of a crash just before the finish. ???????????? #TirrenoAdriatico
