D1 Arkema: women’s PSG dominates Montpellier and consolidates its second place

The Parisiennes had a perfect week. Four days after their victory in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League against BK Häcken (2-1), Jocelyn Prêcheur’s players won on the Montpellier pitch (3-1). The flaw was first found on a corner. After a cross to the near post from Fazer, the ball reached Jade Le Guilly who, at the far post, opened the scoring from the right (1-0, 10th). Just before the break, Korbin Albert made the break with a sharp left shot, crossed into the opposite net (2-0, 43rd).

A few minutes after the break, D1 top scorer Tabitha Chawinga tripled the lead with a low shot (3-0, 49th). Louis reduced the score at the end of the match for Montpellier.

The C1 in sight

Building on this success, the Parisiennes remain second in the Championship behind an untouchable OL. With four matches to play before the end of the regular season, Paris could be tempted to already think about the final stages, the new format for this 2023-2024 season. At the end of the 22 days, the first will face the fourth, the second the third. The two winners will qualify for the D1 Arkema final. But before that, PSG will have to finish the job on Thursday against Häcken, in the Champions League.
