Clippers Edge Timberwolves in Defensive Battle: Gobert Records Another Double-Double

Again for Minnesota. Stopped at home by Sacramento on Friday after three consecutive successes in the NBA, Rudy Gobert’s Timberwolves fell again on their floor against another Californian franchise. The Picardy interior and its team were dominated by the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday evening, at the end of a match where the defenses took precedence over the attacks (89-88).

With this second consecutive loss at home, Minnesota loses its first place in the Western Conference (42 wins – 19 losses), recovered by Oklahoma City (41 v. – 18 l.), which will play on the night of Sunday to Monday in Phoenix .

Authors of a good start (30-18 at the end of the first quarter), the Wolves watched helplessly as the Californians woke up, ahead by the score at the break (49-46). Returning from the locker room, the two teams went head to head before deciding in the final seconds.

Another double-double for Gobert

13 seconds from the buzzer, two free throws converted by Kawhi Leonard (32 points in total) put the Californians in front. In the process, Anthony Edwards (27 points), with a dunk, brought his team back to one unit but the Wolves were unable to make a mistake on the very last action. Enough to nourish regrets for Rudy Gobert, author of a second consecutive double-double (12 points, 16 rebounds).

Minnesota will have the opportunity to bounce back on Tuesday, again at home, against Portland.
