Claudio Marchisio Opens Representation Company ‘Circum’ After Stellar Playing Career

Claudio Marchisio (38 years old, Turñin) has just started a new adventure. After his time as a player, during which he played almost 400 games and won 15 titles with Juventus, the former midfielder opened ‘Circum’, a representation company of which he is a minority partner. The Italian received AS to present his new project and analyze the current situation in Calcio: “Circum’ was born after a long journey lived with the agent Alessandro Tocci. In the last 10 years we worked together and with the communication agency ‘Mate’ we collaborated, among others, with Chiellini, Buffon, Pjanic, Vlahovic, Gallinari… I wanted to close the circle opened in these years, and that is why we gave it this name . My career offers me the luck of being able to experience this without rushing and to give personal treatment to each of our players.”

– How did you make this decision?

-Everyone must find their vocation. I didn’t want to be a coach because in recent years I have focused on the individual rather than the team and my character led me here. Those who appreciate me, know my way of being. He won’t change in this role.

– Among those represented is Loris Karius.

– We know his story, Loris is a boy who still really wants to play and show his talent. He has been labeled for that mistake, but he was not the only footballer who made a mistake in an important match. He wants to show everyone that he is a great goalkeeper.

-Then he opted for young talent.

– Yes. Davide Dell’Erba is showing his qualities in the Bayern U-19 team, he is ready to make the big leap and we will see if we can find a way for him in Italy. Francesco Stante was our first player, with him we started this path: he is one of the best defenders in the Primavera championship with Inter. Filippo Reale is Italian under-17 champion with Roma and has enormous room for improvement. Then there are Thomas Corigliano, Edoardo Rocchetti and Fabio Badarau at Juve, Tommaso Ramondetti at Torino…

– Is there a former colleague of yours that you would have liked to be an agent for?

– Chiellini, without a doubt. We are friends and partners, but that’s not why. Giorgio, when he was very young, did not have great technical maturity and had to work to improve himself. His character made the difference.

– Let’s move on to today. Many young people shine in his Juve.

– Kenan and, among others, those on loan like Huijsen have shown the importance of working in the youth team and with the youth teams. I hope that this system is consolidated, as in Spain: at the moment only the Bianconeri and Atalanta do it, apparently Milan will also do it soon. The problem is that in Italy they bet on young people only when the team is in trouble. It should be the other way around.

-What do you think of what happens to Pogba?

– Everything you are experiencing hurts me a lot, between physical and personal problems and the issue of doping. He was one of the teammates who impressed me the most on the field, injuries did not allow him to have the career he deserved, he could aim for the Ballon d’Or. I think it was a mistake to return to United, his evolution did not help.

-How do you see Serie A?

-Inter’s leadership is deserved, they are a mature team that has come from a long journey. It is the championship that I expected, perhaps with a little more distance between the Nerazzurri and the rest.

– The Interisti fell to Atlético. You played at the Calderón and were at the Metropolitano…

– There the public makes the difference. The structure of the stadium changed, but the drive of the athletic fans is the same: they are the twelfth man. Now it is a different Atlético compared to the one I had as a rival, but scoring a goal is always very difficult, especially at home.

– And Naples was eliminated by Barça, with whom they crossed paths several times.

– The regret of the Berlin final is always alive, but we have to be honest: we had a great team in front of us. The 2017 quarterfinals are a great memory. We dominated at home, and at the Camp Nou we had to suffer. I was on the bench with Barzagli and I remember we saw Iniesta miss a couple of passes at the start of the game. There we say: ‘this can turn out well’.

– This Champions League has not gone well, but Italian clubs have grown in international competitions.

– I want to give recognition to the work of the coaches, who are now going to Europe trying to dominate the game and take some more risks. We no longer defend only in our half of the field.

“Go to Madrid? There was a possibility with Capello…”

Marchisio

– Spalletti is a perfect example in this sense. What Italy is expected in the Euro?

– I think that the coach has not yet found the details of his journey with the Nazionale. However, according to what we have seen until today, we have already begun to notice an Italy that reflects his spirit, his soul. It will be a team that wants the ball and dominates the game. Then, you have to be lucky enough to arrive at the competition with players who are in good shape. It is a huge shame to have lost Berardi.

– Among the great Italian coaches, there is Ancelotti: how would you see him with Mbappé?

– I think he would be delighted and would have no problem lining up all of Madrid’s talents together. He already did it: look at his past lineups.

– By the way, you can say that you said ‘no’ to Real Madrid.

– Was very young. There was this possibility with Mr. Capello, I was in Serie B with Juve and I had just arrived at the first team, the one I loved. Honestly, it didn’t seem fair to start my career by leaving the club where I grew up and of which I was always a fan.

– Your favorite moment against the whites?

– The final whistle of the 2015 semi-final. The Bernabéu was hellish, everyone wanted to go to the final against Barça and we got through. The ball stopped right in the corner of the stadium where our family and friends were. We all celebrated together and it is one of the most beautiful memories of my career.

– He was always attentive to social issues. What do you think about what happened to Vinicius?

– Unfortunately, changing the mentality of certain people is difficult. What happened to Vinicius happens in many stadiums and places. The sad paradox is that the same people who insult, then support black players on their team.
