Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates took the lead at the World Figure Skating Championships after the rhythm dance on Friday in Montreal. Undefeated this season, the title holders took an option for the final victory with a score of 90.08 points. On the imposed theme of the 80s, the American pair played with the public and put on a show to the sound of hits from the group Queen.

Before the free dance scheduled for Saturday, they are ahead of the Italians Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri, double European champions, who collected 87.52 points in their turquoise and pink sequined costumes. The provisional third place is occupied by Canadians Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier (86.51 points).
