San Salvador, March 13 (Prensa Latina) Chilean cyclist Aranza Villalón won today the MOPT Grand Prix, a 25-kilometer time trial route, which ended the Tour El Salvador 2024, an event that brought together athletes from 25 countries.

Villalón won with a time of 35.22 seconds and a speed of 42.41 kilometers per hour on a route from Sunset Park, in the Department of La Libertad, to San Luis Talpa, in an environment marked by high temperatures that in recent days exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in various parts of the east of the country.

Havana, March 13 (Prensa Latina) Badminton players from 13 countries will compete in the XXII Giraldilla International Tournament in Havana, from tomorrow until Sunday, in search of valid points for the Olympic classification, the weekly Jit reported today.

Representatives from Guatemala, Canada, Peru, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Brazil, Kenya, Ireland, India, Indonesia, Malta and 27 from Cuba will host the contest.

London, March 13 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopian long-distance runner Tigist Assefa heads the list of big stars in the 2024 London Marathon, to be held on April 21, the organizers confirmed today.

Last year in Berlin, Assefa reduced the world record for women in mixed marathons, then held by Kenyan Brigid Kosgei, by more than two minutes, setting it at 2:11.53 hours.

Havana, March 13 (Prensa Latina) The Colombian Grand Masters (GM) Santiago Ávila and Sergio Barrientos will animate the open group of the 57th Capablanca in Memoriam International Chess Tournament, from May 2 to 12, the weekly Jit announced today.

Ávila, with 2,500 Elo points, and Barrientos (2,435) appear among the candidates for the title in that section of the contest, to be held at the Habana Libre hotel in the capital.
