Campazzo and Hezonja knock down Partizan

Real Madrid gains the best regular season in the Euroleague to be seeded in the playoffs

MADRID, 21 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid beat Partizan (76-88) this Thursday on matchday 31 of the Euroleague to continue watching from above the tight fight to be in the playoffs, with the white team very comfortable in its leadership to be seeded with a record of 25 wins in the regular phase.

Chus Mateo’s men left behind the slump of three consecutive defeats in a week of double ration and double triumph. The Spanish team, which signed a historic 25th, a record that will almost certainly increase, broke the match at the end of the third quarter with Mario Hezonja (25 points) and Facundo Campazzo.

The Croatian was the most inspired in a busy first half and maintained his success in the second period. Meanwhile, the Argentine woke up after the break, to lead a Madrid team that stormed the Stark Arena again with good memories of the past playoffs, the trigger for becoming European champions.

The white team did not have it all at the beginning, failing a lot but on equal terms with the Serbians (31-33). Partizan failed especially in the triple and did not smile much at the success, with a little more scoring in Nunnally and Kaminsky. The battle continued the same after passing through the locker room, until Campazzo and Hezonja began a give and take that resulted in a 0-16.

Madrid left the locals behind (54-66), a Partizan that could not make good on its victory over Baskonia to ask for a place in the ‘play-in’. Kevin Punter, with 11 points in a row, took the pride of Zeljko Obradovic’s team in the last quarter, but Mateo’s team, who had defended well until then, did not forgive the good income to continue enjoying without a rival in Europe.
