Brutal Attack in Montceau-les-Mines: Assassination Attempt or Punitive Expedition?

It is neither more nor less than an assassination attempt, this is what investigators from the Montceau-les-Mines judicial police suggest. When we see how brutally they hit the victim on the head, it was death they wanted to cause.

Moreover, before fleeing, the attackers stole the cell phone of the beaten man who was still breathing. Perhaps there is no question of finding the trace of a telephone call.

It is the night of Friday March 1st to Saturday March 2nd, rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in Montceau-les-Mines. That evening, a 54-year-old man, staying with his brother, was alone. The doorbell rings, he goes to open it and an avalanche of blows rains down on his head with a blunt object, probably a baseball bat.

Someone close to him then tries to contact him on his cell phone. No response, so she goes to rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau and discovers the victim in a pool of blood. Firefighters, SMUR and police arrive on the scene. The life of the fifty-year-old is in absolute emergency. Very quickly he was airlifted to the Dijon University Hospital. A first operation will last eight hours. Today he is out of danger.

Who and why so much violence against this man? “He is not a delinquent, not a drug trafficker” say the investigators. But it looks like a punitive expedition. It remains to know the motive. The police are on leads.
