Brizuela set the spark for Barça to ‘ignite’ the Olímpic against Joventut – La Provincia

Barça took a breath Badalona thanks to a lethal Darío Brizuela who boosted Barça in the third quarter, with 12 points, and who ultimately was key to ending up overwhelming the Badaloneses at the Olímpic (75-93). A victory that gives Grimau’s team breath in the Endesa League and morale after the European setback.

Roger Grimau shook up the starting team by giving the handle to Ricky against a Penya that could not count on its star, Ante Tomicwho had to return to Croatia after the death of his father.

Y The Masnou point guard started by commanding successfully and also scoring against a Joventut team that started out of position., perhaps disoriented by the unexpected absence of the Croatian center. An aggressive Barça in defense and with seven initial points from Ricky, he commanded soon, reaching 11 points (8-19) which forced Carles Duran to stop the match.

Grimau had already given minutes to the ‘forgotten’ Parra and Grimau, who also started successfully, very focused and contributing in attack. La Penya reacted with Vives and Evans, to reduce the lead to 7 at the end of the first quarter (21-28).

A more aggressive Penya

Joventut entered the second quarter with more aggressiveness and speed. The Evans-Feliz duo led the Blaugrana defense, which saw how the duel was tied very quickly (28-28) with a triple by Brodziansky and with Vesely on the bench, with three fouls very soon.

Willy was not successful in either attack or defense and Penya took advantage of them to take the lead for the first time (34-33) although Parker responded immediately with a triple (34-36). The duel was equal although Feliz committed his third foul.

Ricky and Jokubaitis took the helm, and Parker woke up on time (34-38) while Willy went to the bench, totally unproductive, giving way to Da Silva. Barça, despite giving up many offensive rebounds, They went into the break ahead (40-45) in a good first half for the Blaugrana.

Blaugrana growth spurt

At the restart, Barça came out against a hesitant Penya and punished them with a run of 0-7 to go to a maximum of 12 (40-52). Duran was forced to get back on track Happy and Andrews in the face of the passivity of their team and with a successful Brizuela. The black-and-white reaction came from Brodziansky and an active Feliz (53-59).

Although Barça did not let the lead go down with a triple from Satoransky and a Vesely who did damage inside (53-64). Ricky and Parker returned to the field and with an inspired Brizuela (12 points in the quarter) Barça once again commanded sufficiency with a maximum of 15 (55-70) at the end of the quartero.

Grimau continued to bet on Ricky and Jokubaitis, very active in defense and attack. Two triples in a row by Abrines opened the difference to 20 points (58-78) at a critical moment for Penya. Barça had to manage this large income so as not to suffer in the end.

La Penya tries until the end

Brodziansky led the reaction of the youth with a partial 7-0 (65-78) although the forces of the green and black began to waner against a Barça that managed to maintain the lead (67-85 m.37) and even increase it to 21 (67-88).
