Brazil’s Endrick becomes youngest goalscorer at Wembley

With the winning goal in Brazil’s 1-0 win over England, young star Endrick set an age record in the 80th minute. According to statistics service Opta, Endrick is the youngest player to score an international goal at Wembley at 17 years and 246 days.

It was also the future Real Madrid player’s first goal for Brazil in the senior national team. “My family is there, my girlfriend, my agents. I don’t cry a lot, I hold back, but this is something unique and I’m very happy,” said the teenager on Saturday evening.

“I was just thinking about scoring goals”

In the final phase, Endrick could have increased, but missed the second goal for the record world champion, who had recently been weak in terms of sport, who gave his neo-coach Dorival Junior a perfect debut. “It all took a bit of a toll on me – the chance I had at the end, I’m not going to lie,” said Endrick. “I just thought about scoring goals. I couldn’t think about the game any longer.”

Endrick, who will move to Real Madrid from Brazilian club Palmeiras at the end of the season, scored nine minutes after coming on as a substitute. Madrid secured the contract with Endrick in December 2022, when he was only 16 years old. According to media reports, the transfer fee amounts to up to 70 million euros. Endrick follows in the footsteps of Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo, who the Madrilenians also acquired under the age of 18.
