Mike Tyson turns 58 in June. That didn’t stop him from returning to the boxing ring shortly afterwards. The former world champion competes against YouTuber and new boxer Jake Paul. The fight is scheduled to take place in the huge football stadium in Dallas.
Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson returns to the boxing ring for an exhibition fight. As his opponent Jake Paul, 30 years his junior, announced on Thursday, the fight between the two Americans will take place on July 20th at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas. The football stadium in Texas normally holds up to 100,000 spectators. The fight will also be shown on Netflix. The streaming service does not charge its subscribers any extra fees for the duel.
“Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is a once-in-a-lifetime dream fight and I expect it to be the most watched boxing event in modern boxing history,” promoter Nakisa Bidarian proudly announced.
The now 57-year-old Tyson last fought in November 2020 in a fight against Roy Jones Jr. that was also not entirely serious and managed a draw. He is probably the most feared boxer of his generation and won 50 of his 58 professional fights, 44 by knockout alone.

Tyson was quoted in a press release as saying: “Paul has developed significantly as a boxer over the years. So it will be a lot of fun to see what a child’s will and ambition can do with the experience and skill of a GOAT (Greatest of all time; Anm. d. Red.) can do.”

Paul is originally a YouTuber who has also been making progress in boxing for a long time. His record so far is nine wins from ten fights. The only defeat came on February 26th last year against Tommy Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson. The main purpose of the fight against the legend Tyson is to make his name better known and earn a lot of money. The duel has hardly any sporting value.
