Bolivarian Youth Games in Sucre to Kick Off with Six Exciting Sports

Sucre, March 27, 2024 (ATB Digital).- The First Bolivarian Youth Games will begin with badminton, table tennis, five-a-side baseball, Basque pelota, beach volleyball and weightlifting events, which will be held in Sucre from April 4 to 14.

The opening ceremony of the international event will take place on Thursday, April 4 at the Patria stadium in the state capital.

According to the calendar of the organization of the multidisciplinary contest, the six sports disciplines will open the competition, which will last for 11 days of intense activity in which the delegations from Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Panama, Chile and Bolivia will seek to harvest the most medals.

FIRST SPORT

Badminton will be the first sport that will come into action and will do so at 9:00 a.m. with the mixed doubles modality, at the Max Toledo Coliseum, and from 11:00 a.m. the duels in the individual specialty will take place. The Bolivian representation has a team of four selected: Melanie Salvatierra, Verónica Condori, Gabriel Rosales and Romel Colque.

At 10:00 the mixed table tennis will start at the Jorge Revilla Aldana Coliseum. Melany Terán, Viviani Gutiérrez, Fernando Fernández and Sergio Ressini will play for Bolivia.

Meanwhile, at 10:00 the weightlifting tests will be held in the Third Phase Coliseum of the Patria stadium, where the first seven medals will be awarded on the day, all in the discipline, out of a total of 234 medals. throughout the competition.

The Bolivia weightlifting team has 12 athletes, which increases the possibility of achieving medals. Among the representatives are Madelein Quispe, Leo Chambi, Pablo Limachi and Eloisa Vásquez.

On that date, baseball matches will also begin, specialty five, with a Bolivian squad made up of eight athletes, in the sports center diamond, located in the Garcilazo neighborhood, where beach volleyball matches will be played on the sand courts. , a sport in which Bolivia registered the pairs María Belén Peredo-Avril Vásquez and Rafael Daza-Pablo Choque.

DELEGATIONS

Delegations from the invited countries will begin to arrive in Sucre during the last days of March and the beginning of April to carry out the adaptation and reconnoitre the sports venues.

Bolivia will play against Chile, Peru and Venezuela in futsal

The Bolivian men’s futsal team will compete from April 12 to 14 in the first edition of the Bolivarian Youth Games in Sucre, where it will face its peers from Chile, Peru and Venezuela in the Under-18 category.

The Garcilazo Sports Center will be the scene of all the matches played between the four participating teams that will seek the gold medal.

“All the games will be complicated. All selections are prepared the same way we do. Obviously the hope of making the podium is very great. We have the desire to work and the predisposition to get a good result for the country,” said technical director Mauricio Arnez.

The Sucre Games will start on April 4 and will last until the 14th, which means that futsal will be one of the last sports to award medals.

The national team has been training for a few weeks at the Sports Training and Training Center (Cefed) of La Tamborada, in Cochabamba.

12 players are working, but the final list will be reduced to 10 in the first days of April. So far, the preselected who have been registered are Luis Garabito, Luis Soleto, Waldo Paniagua, Luis Gonzáles, Alejandro Medina, Álvaro Garrido, Matías Demiquel, Giordan Vargas, Agustín Flores and Jhoan Rea.

“The boys are motivated to have a good campaign and give everything to achieve a medal for the country,” said the coach, who highlighted the dedication of each of the players in each training session.
