Blue-Chip Running Back Girard Pringle Commits to Miami: What It Means for the Hurricanes

Blue-chip running back Girard Pringle, one of the fastest athletes in the 2025 recruiting cycle, committed to Miami on Saturday night.

Pringle, 5 feet 10 and 182 pounds, plays at Seffner (Fla.) Armwood. He is ranked No. 360 overall in the 247Sports Composite but as high as No. 93 by On3. Pringle ran a 10.56 in the 100-meter dash — the fourth-fastest time in the country for football recruits in the 2025 cycle, according to ESPN’s UC Report.

He ran for 1,683 yards and 24 TDs on 7.7 yards per carry as a junior, according to MaxPreps, while leading Armwood to a 10-2 record.

Pringle had an official visit lined up to Alabama on June 21. It’s unclear if he’s going to take it.

What does this mean for Miami?

The Hurricanes have six scholarship running backs on the roster after 2022, and 2023 leading rusher Henry Parrish Jr. decided to enter the transfer portal last week. Most expect sophomore running back Mark Fletcher Jr., a thicker back at 6-1, 225 pounds, to be Miami’s lead runner this coming season. Coach Mario Cristobal likes to use speedsters like Pringle as complementary pieces in the running game and explosive weapons in the passing game out of the backfield.
