After several days of competition, the Ceg Nokoué sports field was the appropriate place for baseball players to finish the Little League in style. A great celebration of baseball with the apotheosis of a final which kept all its promises, pitting one of the best teams of the moment, Galaxy Baseball Académie against its counterpart the Black Stars. And, at the end of a fiercely contested final, it was Blacks Stars who created the surprise by winning over the team holding the trophy, Galaxy Baseball Académie (1-0). A minimum but very important service for the team which won first place in the Little League 2024. “I am very happy with my players. This victory is the result of hard work. I am very happy with the game produced by my players,” rejoiced Blacks Stars coach Franck Hedible. He indicated that work will continue to better represent Benin outside the national territory. For the defeated coach, the defeat is due to a few errors made by his players. According to him, the players were not really motivated. “They didn’t play like they used to. It’s not a complicated match but they were a little scared,” said Galaxy coach Acakpo Fidèle Comlan, who did not fail to appreciate the level of the competition. “The level is not bad. Baseball is developing in Benin and what is happening is already interesting. With these different initiatives, Beninese baseball will go very far,” he said.
An assessment, however, highly appreciated by the president of the Fbbs Fernando Lavenir Atannon. “The impressions are positive. The results that we can draw from this competition are commendable and after the analyses, the level is very high,” he said. “Since the start of the competition, we have noticed a certain slowness among the athletes but as the competition evolves, we have noticed excitement and enthusiasm among the athletes with a very satisfactory final,” he added. Note that for the rest, the winning team will go to Nigeria to defend the Beninese colors in a regional competition.
