Belgium Takes 3rd Place in Men’s Relay B Final at Shorttrack World Championships

Belgium took 3rd place in the B final of the men’s relay at the shorttrack world championships on Sunday in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

The Belgian relay, with Stijn Desmet, Adriaan Dewagtere, Ward Petré and Warre Van Damme, clocked 7:33.912 to take third and last place behind Japan (7:21.761) and Kazakhstan (7:21.939).

On Saturday, Belgium was disqualified in the semi-finals but lodged a protest after analyzing the video images. The organizers finally decided to reinstate the Belgian relay in the B final.

Earlier on Sunday, the mixed relay, with Stijn and Hanne Desmet, Ward Petré and Tineke den Dulk, also qualified for the B final by finishing in 3rd place in their semi-final in 2:39.359 behind the Netherlands (2:38.198) and the United States (2:38.581) and ahead of Canada (2:55.811). Canadians, Poland and South Korea will be Belgium’s opponents in the B final on Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
