Bees interrupt match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev at Indian Wells

We have already seen matches interrupted by unpredictable weather conditions, but it is much rarer when it is bees that force the players to return to the locker room. However, this is what happened in Indian Wells during the quarter-final between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev.

After 10 minutes of play, when the two men were at 1-1, they had to leave the court which was invaded by bees. Alcaraz touching his head as he left the court, the Spaniard was indeed stung, which his agent Albert Molina confirmed on the Iberian radio Cope. The bees then gathered on the spider-cam which allows the court to be filmed from above and do not seem to have decided to leave.

A beekeeper came onto the court to resolve the situation and remove the swarm of bees from the camera. Play was scheduled to resume shortly before 1 a.m.
