Bayern Munich Eyeing Expensive Defender Ronald Araújo for Summer Transfer

The Munich team failed to make a commitment in the winter, but now they could try again. But the defender would cost a lot.

Will a transfer hit happen for FC Bayern after all? The German record champions’ interest in defender Ronald Araújo from FC Barcelona has been reported for some time. Now the US sports broadcaster ESPN reports: The Catalans are said to be ready to let the central defender go in the summer. However, signing the Uruguayan could be expensive for the German record champions.

According to the report, Barça is demanding around 100 million euros for the 25-year-old. At the beginning of December, according to information from the TV channel Sky, there had already been a telephone conversation between Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel, sports director Christoph Freund and Araújo.

The Munich team would have liked to have signed the central defender last winter – and paid over 70 million euros for him. But a change didn’t happen. Bayern could now make a second attempt in the summer. Araújo has made 20 appearances this season and has already scored one goal for Barcelona.
