Bayer Leverkusen wins even when everything seems lost. The 3-2 win against Qarabag Agdam was Bayer’s biggest Euro miracle since winning the UEFA Cup in 1988.

Alonso says of his team: “You can’t train this belief. We are all in this together. The players have this will and hunger. This team spirit is perhaps the most important thing. After the 2-2 draw, I saw that the team wanted more. It wasn’t easy to come back after conceding goals, but the players did a good job.”

On Friday night, Alonso didn’t get to sleep until late: “I can’t sleep straight after games like that. It’s easier with a win.”
Before the league duel Freiburg (Sunday, 3:30 p.m./here in the live ticker) emphasizes Alonso: “We have to forget the Europa League a bit now.
