Battle for Medals: Austrian Judokas Compete in Linz Grand Prix

574 judoka from 82 nations have registered for the Grand Prix tournament in Linz. This means an increase of 119 fighters and ten nations compared to the previous year. There is no question: the major battle for the starting places at the Olympics has begun.

In Linz it’s not just about points in the Race to Paris, but also about medals. 34 Austrian judokas take up the fight, including five starters from Schwarzatal. In the class up to 70 kilograms, Michaela Polleres goes into the tournament as number two on the seeding list. The Ternitzer class is strong. Three judokas from the top three in the world rankings are there.

Aaron Fara starts as number three in the class up to 100 kilos. While the two Wimpassinger Olympic hopefuls are among the top favorites, their club colleagues Lisa Grabner (-57 kilos), Lukas Reiter (-73 kilos) and Marlene Hunger (-78 kilos) want to surprise.
