BaskeTrieste’s Historic Journey in Serie C Unica del Friuli Venezia Giulia

BaskeTrieste’s regular season in Serie C Unica del Friuli Venezia Giulia ended with a final sixth place: a “historic” year in its own way for the club that has been operating in the area and on the youth sector for years, focusing in particular on local “shoots” to try to make the most of them and send the most deserving to play as professionals.

In addition to mini-basketball, there are ten teams in the youth championships from Beginners to Under 19 Excellence, then moving on to the Regional Division 1 and finally to the Serie Ca project launched in 2023/2024, with the desire to enhance its youth sector products and give the opportunity to those who cannot reach Serie A2 with Pallacanestro Trieste to still have an important showcase in a senior championship.

The roster is less than twenty years old on average, giving space to twenty-one players throughout the year and offering anyone the opportunity to train and shine in what is the first regional championship of reference in Friuli Venezia Giulia: all orchestrated by Giacomo Piersantea coach from Abruzzo born in 1985 who after more than a decade as a professional in places like Chieti, San Severo and Chiusi among others found himself in the deep north-east due to a life choice, eleven years after having already touched a regional place like Udine.

Speaking of players, among the “seniors” the name of the captain stands out Pietro Boniciollison and brother of art, very good at acting as a glue in a squad that certainly suffered from the physicality of some formations but balanced it with intensity and character and structural deficiencies: together with him, the other seniors Leonardi (born in 2000, product of the nursery) together with the couple born in 2002 AntonioVegnaduzzowith the Venetian Pauletto excellent fit in terms of leadership and technical skills.

I 2004 Role e Camporeale they did the rest, giving shape to a squad which was then completed with the contribution of the Under 19 Eccellenza boys, thanks to the availability of the Youth Sector Manager Stefano Comuzzo: “We are certainly happy with the result and proud of our boys – the words of the President Luigi bonano -; Few people bet on this sixth place a few weeks into the season but we have always believed in it. The choice to compete in Serie C proved to be the right one, for the maturation of our boys and also for our awareness: we knew that it would be a good commitment and an important test, but I would say that this sixth place is the proof of how you can tackle championships like this even without spending too much on the market, focusing exclusively on your own strengths and on a small group of guys who are a little more experienced but who have been able to form a team. Personally I would also like to thank the regional Federation, in the person of President Adami, who allowed us to register in Serie C and gave us trust: we hope to have repaid it in the best possible way and now the most beautiful phase begins, that of the playoffs where we play everything with nothing to lose”.

The post season, in fact, will see BaskeTrieste face theHumus Sacilethird force in the championship, in a first round of the best of three matches: the first race will be played between two weekends at the PalaMicheletto in Sacile, then the return mid-week at the PalaTrieste and the eventual RaceTre will always be held in the Livenza facility.
