Basketball Girona has covered the share capital of 2.4 million euros necessary to transform into Sports Corporation (SAE). The club has announced that, having subscribed to the total capital, specifically set at 2,420,000 euros, the subscription phase is over. The SAE, therefore, burns another stage and in a matter of weeks the transformation will be a fact, with the holding of a meeting of shareholders that will serve to distribute the management positions. In any case, the presidency of Marc Gasol seems obvious after the founder of the club has been the only partner, who has disbursed all the capital.
The first phase of the sale of shares, 4,840 titles at 500 euros each, to cover a total of 2,420,000 euros, the share capital marked by Superior Council of Sports, was launched on March 6 and was to last thirty days. It was already known that there would be only one buyer, Gasol, because the other ten partners with the right to do so resigned on September 21 of last year.
The modification of the Sports Law means that it is now no longer mandatory for clubs competing in First or Second A football, and in the ACB basketball league, to become SAE (with the exception of Barça, Madrid, Osasuna and Athletic). But with the rise to the elite of men’s basketball, Marc Gasol was always clear that this was a necessary step. The base will be managed, from now on, through a Foundation, while the first team will depend on the Sociedad Anónima Esportiva, that is, with business management.
