Aryna Sabalenka eliminated in the third round of the Miami Open, Carlos Alcaraz in demonstration

The tournament is over for Aryna Sabalenka. If the Belarusian had started her tournament well against Paula Badosa, we suspected that she was not necessarily in the best mood after the announcement last Monday of the death of Konstantin Koltsov, her former companion. Facing Anhelina Kalinina, the No. 2 seed was only able to show off her striking power in the second set. But she clearly wasn’t having a great day and she lost in three sets (6-4, 1-6, 6-1), smashing her racket in rage after the match point.

Scheduled to open the night session, Carlos Alcaraz crossed the Miami sky like a shooting star. The number 1 seed did not lag behind his compatriot Roberto Carballes Baena, dispatched in less than an hour and a half (6-1, 6-2).

It was more complicated for Elena Rybakina. The No. 4 seed had to battle against Taylor Townsend (6-3, 6-7 [3], 6-4). Coming from qualifying, the American likes nothing more than creating a surprise in the tables, but Rybakina was able to be very offensive in the third set to overcome her opponent. In the next round, she will again face an American in the person of Madison Keys, seeded 17.
