Arthur Cazaux Recovers from Hospital Scare: “Feeling Better”

“Short message that I’m feeling better,” wrote the world number 74 on “X”. He was able to leave the hospital in Miami after one night. Some tests were carried out there to find out why Cazaux lost consciousness.

“My blood pressure and my heart remained stable. Ultimately it was just a big shock. Now my body needs to rest,” explained the 21-year-old. However, he hopes to be back on the tennis court soon.

His coach Stéphane Huet told “L’Équipe”: “He gave us a big scare.” Cazaux suffered an attack of weakness and, after losing consciousness, also suffered muscle cramps: “It wasn’t a harmless thing.”

What exactly led to the collapse is not known. But the high temperatures of over 30 degrees and the humidity of 70 percent probably played a decisive role.

Arthur Cazaux defends Harold Mayot against criticism

Opponent Mayot was allowed to listen to strong criticism on social media after the incident. The accusation is that he did not react quickly enough to Cazaux’s collapse.

But the 22-year-old defended himself and clarified: “I was concentrating on the next point and didn’t see that Arthur had fallen. When I realized that it was serious, I immediately went to him and was very worried.”

He and Cazaux were childhood friends. “Get well soon bro,” Mayot wrote.

Cazaux also defended the 22-year-old: “I saw that several inappropriate messages were sent to Harold. We couldn’t speak after the game because of my condition. But since I’ve known him for a long time now, I can assure you that he didn’t is the type who doesn’t care about the health of his colleagues.”

As soon as his opponent realized “that it was something serious, he became worried and did everything he could to help me.”
