Argentine Judo Prepares for Paris 2024 Olympics with New CeNARD Campus

With a view to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Argentine judo is preparing for the next competitions that add points in pursuit of achieving the continental place in dispute and in this framework a new Campus is being held at CeNARD for the best 30 judokas in the country, those who, under the orders of national coach Sebastián Alquati, train in double shifts; some of them with a chance of winning that place among the 18 who in this discipline will compete in the highest event in world sport.

“Every month we do two weeks of concentration with training for the best, but this time it is unique because the competitions are coming that will define America’s place in the Games and we have three with many possibilities: Mariano Coto (Fuegian, category up to 90 kilos), Keisy Parafán (Puntana, 48 kilos) and Brisa Gómez (Buenos Aires, 57 kilos). And there is also another place by direct classification. Before there were 32 spots for Olympic judo, then it was 24 and now only 18. Today the most difficult thing is to qualify, but if any of these kids make it, we know that anything can happen in the Games,” remarked “Colo” Alquati. .

And he expanded: “We trust in the classification, we have judokas with a very good level. These Campuses help us a lot because they all enhance their conditions, among what we plan we set up refereed competitions and there we experience significant competitive stress, with referees who mark errors and penalize. Two Grand Slams are coming, in Türkiye and Georgia; the Pan American in April and the World Championship in May, which will be the last instance to achieve the place and to participate you have to be on the Pan American podium.”
