Archers de Boé: Upholding Olympic Values in Sporting Excellence and Inclusion Projects

“Swifter, taller, stronger, generally,” plus life, plus height, plus strength, ensemble: la devise olympique colle aux Archers de Boé.

Les Archers de Boé is a club which upholds sporting and associative values thanks to the involvement of its professional coaches and volunteers. From Baby Arc groups to those of adapted sports or disabled sports, school and discovery activities through leisure archery to the highest level of competition, the club which this year has 153 licensees and welcomes also external audiences, has acquired over the years a solid team of volunteer supervisors.

Three professional coaches supervise specific audiences: Isabelle Raymond, Luc Palpan and Gaëtan Tual. If Luc and Gaëtan, state-certified professionals, can work on all types of audiences, they each have specialties. For example, the training of disabled sports groups for Luc and the management of the School Trophy for Gaëtan (a discovery over several sessions of the practice of archery for students attending primary schools in the department).

As for Isabelle, she coaches Baby Arc and adapted sports groups without forgetting introductory archery activities every summer on the Porte d’Aquitaine motorway area.

A key role

A dynamic team of volunteers, all experienced archers, competitors and trained in supervision, works in collaboration with these pros. Alain Daste and Serge Bertossi coach the adult compound archery group. But not only ! They also have a key role: managing equipment, and there is equipment in an archery club (bows, strings, arrows, targets, accessories, etc.).

On the coaching side, Benoît Saula offers weekly sophrology and breathing workshops, a particularly interesting support for progress. Finally, Céline Pichayrou Laforgue has been following a coaching training course for two years at CREPS in Talence and runs a group of chicks and youngsters every Wednesday.

So much positive energy is a big plus for the club which aims to become a local center of excellence in order to allow young people to perform at home in Boé.

Major work carried out by the municipality is underway to, among other things, provide the structure with a covered shooting range. Training at the highest level all year round will be possible. Finally, it should be remembered, the Boé archers have been certified as a Games Preparation Center (CPJ) for their archery facilities.

At Archers de Boé, a winning alchemy has been in place since the creation of the club to achieve ambitious goals. Sustaining the club as a structure, sustainably committing itself to sporting excellence and carrying out inclusion projects at the same time, the results are there.
