Back at his best, Antoine Griezmann (32 years old, 37 games and 19 goals in all competitions this season) has had two difficult seasons at FC Barcelona. For the coach of the Catalan club, Xavi, it was the financial situation of the Blaugrana which forced the leaders to send the French striker back to Atletico Madrid.
“We decided to let Antoine Griezmann leave just because of the financial situation. The club had to let him go, admitted the Barcelona manager at a press conference. Griezmann is a player that I like a lot, but he only left for that.”
Bought for 120 million euros in the summer of 2019, the 2018 world champion was sold for 22 million euros, in addition to 10 million euros for a season’s loan, three years later.
