In a delicate moment in which racism has once again become, alas, the protagonist on the pitch, Ange-Yoan Bonny, on the occasion of the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination’, wanted to raise awareness among his fans (and not only) about This theme.

The French striker, on the official channels of Parma Calcio 1913 – which in this way “renews its position to promote equality and diversity, forcefully rejecting any form of discrimination” – told his origins and his history, trying to respond to the question: how do you win the game against racism?

A KICK TO IGNORANCE «I was born in France to a mother from the Ivory Coast and a French father. I grew up in a context of diversity, ignorant behavior had no influence on my way of life.”

RACIST INSULTS «Unfortunately I happened to receive racist insults from fans. I was nervous, I was younger but I tried to be careful. It happened to me again, we must report this.”

NO TO PREJUDICES «I think that on an individual level we must change our mentality, not judge people by their color or nationality and have an open heart to everyone. At an organizational level we must do more campaigns to raise awareness among the youngest and oldest, we must take more sanctions.”

A MULTICULTURAL ENVIRONMENT «Luckily I only had small episodes, many people fight against racism. Football is the most watched sport, the most famous, it has great influence in the world and in a locker room there is always multiculturalism. For me it is the perfect example to demonstrate that we can all live together in life, like in football.”

YOU ARE NOT BORN RACIST «We need to do many more campaigns to raise awareness among young people, it’s important for education because no one is born racist, but we need to educate and raise awareness».

5 VALUES AGAINST RACISM «Culture, friendship, peace, education and integration. You must be proud of who you are, regardless of your color or nationality.”
