Basketball world champion Andreas Obst has not yet given up the jump to the North American professional league NBA. “It’s kind of like an extra. Something I never really expected, to be honest. That’s still a long way off, but it’s clear: if this dream comes true at some point, I would be overjoyed. But I’m focused on the things in front of me. Then the rest happens automatically,” said Obst in an interview with Sport1.
The 27-year-old Bayern professional excelled in the World Cup semi-final against the USA in the summer of 2023 and was one of the guarantees of success for the German coup in Manila. However, there was no immediate move to the best league in the world.
In the summer, Obst gets a taste of what might await him in the NBA. Germany has qualified for the Olympics in Paris and will meet the USA in preparation in London, who are planning with superstars LeBron James and Stephen Curry. “Against a team like the USA, with the line-up that is indicated, it won’t be easy. But it’s also nice that everything has made such waves that the USA is now bringing out its Avengers for the Olympics,” said Obst.
