TRANSFERS During the Fan Council meeting on Tuesday evening, Jesper Fredberg also discussed some transfer files in more detail. For example, he said that discussions are ongoing with FC Sevilla, that Jan Vertonghen should not wait until after the European Championship to decide and that the club is looking for a stand-in for Anders Dreyer.

According to Fredberg, the core after the winter mercato is even better composed than before. All positions are double occupied, except perhaps Anders Dreyer’s. That is why Anderlecht is looking at whether it can sign a second player with his profile, a left-footed winger on the right, next summer.

With Ludwig Augustinsson, Thomas Delaney and Federico Gattoni, Anderlecht has three loan players from Sevilla. Fredberg said that both Augustinsson and Delaney have performed very well so far. Gattoni has a top mentality, even if he doesn’t play much. Anderlecht is now examining with Sevilla whether a permanent transfer is a possibility for one or more players, but it is difficult to say anything about that yet.

Jan Vertonghen’s situation has been in the newspapers several times in recent weeks. Anderlecht indeed wants to offer him a new contract and the club has already had good discussions with Vertonghen. Fredberg said that Vertonghen is smart enough to make his choice at the right time, but that Anderlecht cannot wait until after the European Championship to know something. Then getting a replacement is difficult. There has been no discussion about another role for Vertonghen within the club.
