The Yankees have stated that it is improbable for Cole to start on Opening Day.
Boone stated that it may take a few days for everyone to offer their opinions on the matter.

Cole had a record of 15 wins and 4 losses, with an earned run average of 2.63 and 222 strikeouts in the previous season.
According to Boone, the team has started to consider who will be chosen to start on Opening Day against the Houston Astros on March 28. The candidates being considered from within the organization are Carlos Rodon, Marcus Stroman, and Nestor Cortes.
Cole, who is the current holder of the AL Cy Young Award, had an MRI on his right elbow on Monday. According to Boone, further tests will be conducted on Tuesday and a prognosis is not expected in the near future.
Since December 2019, Cole, who is 33 years old, has started on Opening Day for the Yankees four years in a row.
The Yankees’ right-handed player, has not been placed on the injured list. The only instance was in August 2021, when he was diagnosed with COVID-19. Since experiencing an elbow injury in September 2016 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he has not been sidelined due to any other health concerns.
The New York Yankees are getting ready to start the regular season without their top player.
I am incapable of rewording this text. Yankees’ coach, Aaron Boone, informed the media on Tuesday while in Florida that it would be challenging to imagine Gerrit Cole starting on Opening Day due to an unspecified elbow injury.Jorge Castillo
