Alpine F1 Team Faces Staffing Crisis after Disastrous Race Weekend in Bahrain

The Alpine team had a disastrous race weekend in Bahrain. The pace was very disappointing, the cars seem to be much too heavy and the performance was very poor. Now it also seems that there is still a major problem, because several leaders seem to have closed the door behind them.

Alpine drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly had a very bad Grand Prix at the Sakhir circuit. They crossed the line in a disappointing seventeenth and eighteenth place. It fits in with the disappointing trend of recent months within the team. Several leaders were fired, they were unable to move up and they also received a lot of criticism for their livery.

Now it also seems that they are experiencing a staffing problem. Several technical leaders appear to have left. According to Motorsport.com, technical director Mat Harman and head of aerodynamics Dirk de Beer have tendered their resignation from Alpine. The medium reports that Harman and De Beer announced last month that they were leaving before they traveled to Bahrain. It looks like they are not going on gardening leave yet and will continue working for the time being. Harman was therefore at the pit wall in Bahrain.
