Alphonso Davies Contract Negotiations: Agent Criticizes Bayern Munich Ultimatum

“I can say: We made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer. At some point in life you have to say yes or no,” said Bayern Munich sports director Max Eberl recently in relation to the contract negotiations with Alphonso Davies. The parties are said to still be a long way apart when it comes to salary, and an agreement seems unlikely. After the record champions gave the left-back an ultimatum, the Canadian’s agent has now spoken out and expressed harsh criticism of the approach.

“It’s not fair that Alphonso is being attacked now. We were close to an agreement a year ago. Then the entire club management was replaced. We then heard nothing for seven months. Although I tried to contact the club myself during this time,” Nick Huoseh is quoted by “Bild”. “Now we are given an ultimatum and are supposed to react within two weeks because the club is under pressure and it took a long time to reposition itself in the management? That’s not fair.”

The background to the stalled negotiations is more the unclear sporting situation surrounding the vacant coaching position than the financial aspect. “Sky” recently reported that the salary expectations were 6 million euros apart. While Davies’ side is demanding a gross salary of around 20 million euros, Bayern are currently only prepared to pay a salary of up to 14 million euros. The current contract reportedly brings the 23-year-old around 9 million euros per season.

Huoseh continued: “It is a very important contract in Alphonso’s career and we are supposed to make the decision – without knowing who the coach will be next season or what the team looks like. We therefore believe it is unfair to react to the ultimatum and will decide how to proceed at the end of the season when there is more clarity.”

FC Bayern: Davies tends to move to Real Madrid – market value has fallen

Davies was recently linked with a move to Real Madrid, and there was even talk of an oral agreement. The Royals have reportedly set a threshold for a transfer fee of 50 million euros, but Bayern are said to be demanding 70 million euros. In the Bundesliga’s market value update, the left-footer was one of the biggest losers and was devalued by 10 million euros to 60 million euros.
